tuner plus3 to magnum

Maybe it will work...
I tried to put the Turner+3 I have on my OmegaForce, and it would have all kinds of nasty audio crap come out of the external speaker the moment I unkeyed. Happened every time I used it - too. I think that the OmegaForce's TopGun modulator and especially the compressor circuit aren't compatible. That's a guess, and your radio may not react violently as mine does with it.

Since the Turner+3 comes with a built-in compressor circuit, that is what I believe has a problem with my Magnum radio. The Magnum works great with every mic I have, but not with the Turner. I also tried the Turner on all of my other radios that use the same mic wiring as the Cobra, Galaxy, Connex, Ranger, etc and it works great with them all. All except my Magnum OF - that is...

how about a [4]wire D104 my top gun would be off as i mostly use
ssb.sorry for a long response i forgot bout this post.how would
ya wire this mike up

Astatic (4 wire)
1- Shield
2- White
3- Red
4- Black

The Magnum radios use the same wiring as Connex, Galaxy, Ranger, and Cobra.:D
I use a D104/TUP 9 on my OmegaForce. Fantastic.
I set the TopGun Modulator 'on', turn the D104 about 2/3 of the way up in the mic, and then turn up the mic gain on the radio until it begins to squeal when keyed up. I then turn it down a notch -or a notch and a half- on the radio/mic gain(between 5 and 6 on the radio). That works for me.

I turn up the talk back -slowly- until I can hear it before it feeds back. The mic is about three feet from the radio. I like my echo delay set at 3 1/2 to 4; and the echo depth is set to 2 1/2 to 3.
Sounds like Pink Floyd!
Your mileage may vary...

Right. I appreciate the dilemma.
Two of the six wires are for channel up/down. The other four are for audio, ground, TX. and RX. The real problem is that the wire feed to the mic is fed with power for the condenser element in the mic. Hooking up the D104 could burn up something in the radio, since it isn't engineered for condenser power voltages. I could be wrong, but that is what I can see from here.

The condenser mic that comes with it is a good one - if it the same thing as the OmegaForce mic. There is a potentiometer in the mic that can be turned up all of the way, and works outstanding IMO. You may not be able to wire the D104 up to this radio; but making the best of that condenser mic may be the only way to go. Unless, a Heil mic can be wired to it. They are condensers that need the voltage to the mic as well. Maybe someone else knows a way around this problem...

thanks rob.yes its the little brother of the omega.the omega is everything the
delta SHOULDA been.yes the stock mike great i have mine turned up to max
and just use mike gain usally around 12oclock.easier that way than tearing my mic apart all the time.guess maybe ill order a 4to 6 pin magnum adapter

Careful! Careful! Careful!

... The DeltaForce (and 257 and...) have 13.8v on one of the mic pins. Short that puppy to ground and poof! goes your radio.

Most times, I will get inside a radio, put a 4 pin socket in there and wire it for Uniden (Galaxy/Connex/etc) which is what I consider "standard" wiring. Problem with doing that for the magnum 6 pin mic connector is it has a little PC board soldered to the back of it (or is IT soldered to the PCB, hmmm?). So, no easy task.

My recommendation before doing ANY mic work with one of these 6 pin Magnums is to purchase a $5 adapter that adapts the 6 pin magnum plug into Uniden 4 pin. That way, when you are trying different mics, they will most likely come wired for 4 pin Uniden anyways, and if you do try some self-wiring techniques, the risk of making a real mess of the radio are taken away.

Trust me on this... you can make a real mess of your radio if you short that mic socket out...
