UHF to NMO

I'm not following you. What antenna do you have and what mount do you have now? I'm sure there's an adapter that will work...

I am sorry for the confusion.

Three mobile mounts through the roof, one of them is a SO239 (uhf) mount. I would rather not remove the roof liner to replace that uhf mount, and just use an adapter to allow a nmo antenna to be used. All three will be phantom antennas.

i understand my gain will be at a loss.

2m phantom, 1.25m phantom, 70cm phantom.

That adapter will probably work okay, but there's one aspect of it that may not work for you. If that phantom antenna should sit flush with the surface of the vehicle, that mount/adapter will raise it above the surface a bit (1/8" as a guess?). There will be a gap between the bottom of the antenna and the surface of the vehicle. If that's no 'biggy', then it should work fine. Or maybe just fashion a gasket to fill that gap?

My 1st impression looking at the picture is a conversion that requires access to both sides of the sheet metal. Not a screw it on the existing UHF mount and you are converted. I could be wrong.

That is a lot of work. I would select antenna systems using all the same type mounts and connectivity.

Good luck

i think it would work

but how well remains to be seen.

the object on the lower right with a black ring around it acting like a plug into the existing so239.

the other two rings in the picture also screwing on to the existing so239- securing the center contact, then add antenna...remains to be seen how well per your experience.

if ham city is nearby i would stop by and ask to see the kit.
also if a gap is produced as suggested by doc, then make a seal and use silicone, don't want to short to ground in the rain.

Maybe its better i just remove the so239 mount and install a NMO mount.
