Why are UHF and vhf amplifiers so much more money compared to hf amps of equal output?
 

Takes much greater precision and quality of components and workmanship to manufacture an amplifier to work 50 MHz and above.
The higher you go in frequency the higher the tolerance of the build...
Even the length of the hook-up wire between components becomes a major factor.

Yes indeed everytbing gets MUCH more fussy when building at those frequencies. Even the RF devices are made to much more stringent specs.

Henry Radio still produces fine solid state UHF and VHF amplifier$, are made in the great US of A and out lasted Tokyo Hy-Power, haha.

But they are all Class C meant for FM ONLY. Check out the specs. The only ones not class C are the HF models which they no longer make. Looks like the Ha Ha is on you. :p
