Well this morning I decided to re-hook up my very first SSB mobile purchase from Walmart to check and see if I was having base antenna problems because I haven't had the kind of luck I've been wanting talking DX. Keep in mind you might say I've been doing what you might say a 5 year unfocused DX experiment with trying different radios, antennas, & antenna locations, & amps. The Uniden SSB 980 being the first SSB radio set up as a base on a Lowly old Workman Stardust antenna is the first radio system I started to have some luck talking DX on. Then started the experiment trying to make improvements to the system. Well needless to say I hooked back up the Old 980 to my Sirio Star Duster antenna at a different location and was able to talk to Corpus Christi Texas as a first time hitting Texas and the operator said it sounded good and skip wasn't really strong either. So I guess the old 980 is not slouch when running a little KL 300-P with everything straight out of the box just the way it came. Hope it keeps going this way. LOL
