Sure have and you won't really wake it up much.Anybody ever turn up the modulation on one of these and do you know the pot # ? Thanks
Thanks. That's my understanding but the modulation meter doesn't show much activity so I want to give it a little help. I don't care much about turning up the dead key because it is paired good with my KL-203 P. The reason I moved on from the radio was that display stinks in the sunlight. Would make someone a good cheap little Base station radio. It seems rock solid On Freq.Sure have and you won't really wake it up much.
I owned one of the early version 980's and although it wasn't a big talker, it worked well for years before I donated it to a fellow driver. I used it in a t800 kw so it was mounted overhead and didn't have the display washout because of the location.Just bumped the AMC pot ( 205 on my radio ) up a little this morning. still haven't made a contact yet.
If you have the amp and a watt meter in line the radio's swr meter will show you the swr between the radio and amp. If that number is high this means the amp is not tuned to a 50 ohm load as good as it could be. You might try a different size jumper to see if this helps fool the meter some. Only other option would be to have the amp worked on.Tried it yesterday but no luck making contacts. Gotta check it out some more. External SWR meter says excellent swr internal says crap swr. Gotta disconnect the KL-203 P and try the swr. Just seems like one problem after the next. This is getting Old ! LOL
First I used 3' of RG 8X then I tried 18" of 213U if I remember the last one correct. What length jumper did you run between the radio and amp?
