Ca
i recently sold my newly bought Uniden BCT8 to a good friend. because i really wanted something that has no Gaps.
i am interested in these three scanners but i dont know which one to choose:
Uniden BC780XLT, Uniden 785D, Uniden BCT-15
i play with the BCT-15 allot @ fry;s electronics cause its the only cheap one on the shelf the 996 is just too expensive ( and the only thing i see that is cool is the 996 can change colored screens ).
im looking for something that has no gaps, can have the option of dimmy the screen w/o having to add resistors :bdh: and has alpha txt display and must be mobile unit.
i learned about the 785d only today and i see it is NON digital without the APCO card so i don't thing that is my first or second choice in a scanner.
i use my icom mainly as a scanner for SW and LW but it would be nice to give it a rest and wait using it until i get my ticket and get a nice scanner. if any one reading this has experience with the 780xlt or BCT15 please dont hesitate to leave a line or two.
i have old school analog tank receivers in my shag shack but cant use that mobile

have you checked out the new uniden home patrol scanner?plug and play .

YouTube - Uniden HomePatrol

i like it but it isnt as fun as a real scanner if u know what i mean.

i found out this about the 785d this morning:

Frequency ranges for this scanner are:

25.00 - 224.995 MHz, 225.00 - 399.950 MHz (Military Aircraft), 400.00 - 512MHz, 806.00 - 823.9875 MHz, 849.0125 - 868.9875 MHz, 894.0125 - 956.00 MHz, 1240.00 - 1300.00 MHz. (Excludes cellular and cordless phones).

i know what you mean .

for me though if i could warrant the expenditure on the home patrol i would have one .
i like the ease of use .i set my scanner long ago and have not updated it in a long time .kinda a hassle to me .
so the home patrol looks nice to me .i believe it even updates .

i been running the rs pro 2036 for so long i cant fathom another scanner .
bought it way back when it was still new for like 299.99. i think.

its so old it still has celluar open on it ...lol...but its our every night listener.

enjoy whatever you decide to go with .

anyway's the 780XLT seem's to be my top choice second will be the bc15x so im going to buy both try em and which ever i dont like will get resold. 73:ps
