I am curious about the output stage of the 980 as the internal view from the FCC page shows it to have a driver and a single final....
Seems this would be a MOSFET output stage as there seems to be two reasonings against the output being only four watts output. First since conventional transistors are scarce that would exclude them from being used in this rig. Second MOSFETs are more common place and set up can be realized with four watts on AM and PEP of 12 watts on SSB.

P.S. If you look closely there seems to be an indentation for a second final! Perhaps a look into the future of this chassis or it's sisters!
