Hi, The guy i got this radio from told me that he had extra channels installed in the hi low and bright dim switches. I wanted to restore the radio. Here is some of what i found when i took off the covers. R131 was cut and soldered to the middle leg of q26. q24 was removed. My question is was this done for more modulation?

Yeah; from what you have described it sounds as if someone had modded the modulation limiter with the resistor. Not sure that taking out another tr would be a part of that mod. If I'm not mistaken, the choice is to either mod the limiter transistor with a resistor on one leg - or remove it altogether. Not sure of the significance of the second tr being removed altogether.
Does it work OK? Usually if the resistor mod has been done with the tr - it works pretty well. I got a Grant XL in the same condition you have yours - with freqs and modulation mod...
Yes it works ok. Someone sniped some of the connector wires on the main board. jv 23 jv48 yellow and white. And the wires on a three way connector in front of l59 can white white and black.So i am not sure witch connector goes to witch switch?The orig owner told me the work was done 15 years ago, He only remembers his first name, Louie in Indiana. Sure would like to no what he did. And if any one could tell me witch connector goes to witch switch? Thank you for your time and help.
Can you take some pictures of what you need info for? Also which switches are you referring to?

The switches are brt/dim hi/low these are the extra channels. Here are a few pictures. I need to know witch wire connectors on the board go to witch switch. r131 has been clipped. I have another transistor to replace tr24.
