Uniden PC76 resurection

I call it a resurection, it is an attempt. The radio was intermittently having spells where audio wasn't being applied to the carrier. It would come back and go randomly. Eventually it just never came back. I was told on another forum to test the modulation amp circuit. I asked how and never heard back. I don't know much about radio components. This is my foot in the door for repair.
I also used my multimeter to check the mic jack and had varying continuity between any/all pins. When the radio is on and I hit the PTT the TX light illuminates and when I release it, it goes back to the green light.

At this point check all the simple stuff, mic, radio settings, power cord, antenna and such. Once thats done send it in.

My bad, I should have given more info on what I have eliminated. I tried a different mic, hooked it up in another truck and in the house, and it didn't make a difference.
I really want to at least try to fix the radio myself before I send it out. I am interested in getting into being able to work on my radios. I have a pile of junk radios that I have started to practice my soldering skills and component replacement. The Uniden may or may not be over my head as far as being able to fix it, but I don't want to give up before I even try. I am going for my ham ticket sometime and figure that what I learn will help me on my way by understanding how the radio works. I am the type of person who needs to know why and how. Knowing an answer doesn't make one intelligent, it is knowing what the answer means.
