Haven't encountered that one yet. I'm still a bit new to radio repair; better at alignments ATM.

Not quite sure what you mean either. Does the freq counter stay correct when you go through 1-40? Have you tried talking to someone you know on each channel to verify that it is still TXing right? Does it happen only on SSB? OK on AM? It is possible the the VCO is unlocked due to wrong voltage in that circuit (been messing with the tuning coils inside?). Could be a bad rotary switch too; really hard to say w/o better details . . .

In other words - bump.

have not touched the tuning coils inside no reason too.
this radio has the 1-40 read out plus a 6 digit counter. when going through the channels 38 on any setting rather it be AM or SSB it says 38 but the 6 digits show 27.3750 and it is transmitting & receiving on 37. last night i left it on 38 even tho it said 27.3750 after about 2 hours it magical switched to 27.3850
no 10kc switch only two switches for extra channels... already checked those but 30-40 is not affected by those extra switches. it would be my guess the channel pot could be dirty..... its very odd that it just skips channel 38 ....sometimes.
later today ill make a quick short video of what it doing

That is strange, dirty channel switch maybe?
get a can of electric cleaner and spray the rotary channel switch, work it around and dry it out with some compressed air and see what happens.....weird.

okay, ill try that this afternoon when it gets a little warmer.
i wonder if i should put a Viagra kit in it ?

I would fix the problem first . . .

When you flipped the channel switches and got .385, that said something. It tells me that it isn't the PLL chip. It tells me something is wrong in the switches. Re-check either the rotary switch or the switches you put in for the extra channels. Do those parts act or look unusual for any reason? Solder job where you linked the switches? Guessing here . . .

the extra channel mod is simple.
two wire were cut to a total of 4 wires each two wires have a switch in between. i tied to NB and ANL buttons.
i have checked for a cold solder joint on the wires with no issue or continuity problem.
i have not touched the channel knob don't know where to check it?
however i will take apart and clean with contact cleaner and soft air to dry.
but like i said channels 30-40 do not change no matter where the switches are set at.
no kit installed so there for the mapping of extra channels is very weird.

hmm.. still no success. cleaned big channel knob inside and on pot ...still doing the same thing... :( atleast i have extra channels so i guess i can just use 9 - to get to 27.3850
