Vintage SSB Base CBs vs New

I think the obvious answer is.....beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If you prefer a newer radio, that's great AND you are not wrong. If you prefer the older radios, that's great as well AND you are not wrong. As far as performance goes, some of the older radios still hold thier own with newer radios and in many cases are just better. The newer radios tend to have more features and if that's your thing, that's great!!!

As far as re-capping radios goes, I find that most folks I do that work for are chasing memories of a day in the past when they had one of the older radios. I've had folks buy the model that they had when they were a kid and just wants a working version of it. I identify that feeling and really love being a part of that story.

I will say this, I don't talk on a radio a lot as my time is tight but it's interesting to see how most of the local ops use the export radios and only talk on 1 channel. There is nothing wrong with that but if your one main channel is within the 11 meter 40 channel band an older radio would work fine. As I said before though....beauty is in the eye of the beholder....

Everybody's entitled to their own opinions but in mine.... the Dak was nothing but bling and the cpi was just styling..... old school 148 would run circles around both..... just my opinion.
