vintage transistors where to find?

Could anyone point us in the right direction? We have couple old tube CBs at least 1 is missing 2 transistors which attach to the back of radio (Cobra, camm 88) #s on transistor-GP1622 and 6644A these # on each trans. We would like to find source for parts to this type & other Tube CB Radios. Thanks

Those two transistors have one function ONLY. To oscillate when the radio is run from 12 Volts DC, and convert DC to AC that feeds into the power trasnsformer.

If you plan to use the radio as a mobile, you will need them.

For base-station use with 120 Volt AC power, they are not needed at all.

Unless that model is unique, those transistors were made with germanium technology, NOT the silicon transistors in use for the last 25 years. Odds are they have not been made in a long time, and will cost a mint to replace.

I'm pretty sure the type number is the "GP1622" marking. The "6644A" should be an EIA date code, indicating that it was made the 44th week of 1966.
