North coast of the USA.... Da UP!
Just a question about the variable pots in a HR2510, One of my units has a poor meter response with showing RF out. Adjusting VR117 works but the adjustment is "jumpy" and does not hold. Is this adjustment pot sampling the RF or is it part of the circuit and being flakey, alters my RF out?
Hoping Rogerbird checks in!

Hello mechanic,

If its “jumpy” when adjusting VR117 it sounds like it is dirty & needs cleaned or replaced. I’d start with that especially if the S-meter readings seem normal & steady.

The 2510 variable pots may be hard to clean though the way there made, I have never cleaned them before so I am not sure.

VR117 looks like it adjusts the DC output voltage of the TX meter circuit after all the RF sampling & rectification has been done. Again, if it’s touchy when adjusting, it sounds like it’s dirty or oxidized.

All is well now and I found an intermittent with the 8 volt regulator mounted on the side frame! Simple resolder did the trick!

Thanks for the pointers!

PIC shows the bad joint, it is the output leg....
