VX-8DR tx issue (Im a newbie)

Hello, im completley new at this stuff so i hope i understan any responces i get back. I am unable to transmit to a frequency that i can hear ie:150.890 simplex. I get the red indicator light as if the radio is transmiting however nothing goes thru to the other radio. Pls help i can give my phone number if a verbal is required.

Unless you have modified that radio for out of band transmit, it shouldn't be transmitting there.

The radio is modified. I removed the resistor under the shell on back.

Now i remember, i did the mars cap mod

It might require a hardware reset. Akin to MS PC keyboard reset. Don't recall the button combinations.

Well i am able to talk on FRS... Wouldnt that mean that the mod was done correctly?

Am i supposed to do both parts? Ie: steps 1-12 and the resistor removal?? Cause i too it as either , or and only removed the resistor.

Is your the US or EU radio (not sure if that makes any difference)

If the red TX is going on, that means it is transmitting. Can you try listening on a few different radios to make sure the problem is on the RX end?

Tone squelch on the receiver?

Transmitter's "shift" turned on? Is the display showing the correct frequency when you key it up?
