Hey everyone, hope everybody had a good 4th of July. Well I finally spent the money on a Workman W-58 antenna so now I have to figure out what to put it on. I want to go about 40' up and was thinking of mounting it on 2 pieces of
1 3/8" top rail like they use on chain link fence with a total of 6 guy wires 120 degrees apart connected about 2' from the top and the other 3 attached at the joint where the 2 piece slip together. I will sink the rail about 2' in the ground and attach the guy wire to concrete anchors. Will this be acceptable or should I go a different way? On another note what do you all think of the W-58, for 59.99 I figured I couldn't go wrong. Thanks

54, don't put your mast in or on the ground. That metal will likely disolve pretty fast if buried. I would get a 5' x 1" cast iron pipe coated for burying, and pound it in the ground about 2'-2.5'. Get a patio stone to put your mast on, and secure the mast to that iron pipe. This will save your mast from the affects of soil. Put a cap on the iron pipe to keep water out as much as possible. I use gate brackets to secure my mast to such a mount.
