Weak receive on SSB

I am experiencing a weak signal RX on Sideband on a Cobra 2000 GTL. AM seems to be transmtting and receiving fine, TX on SSB appears to be OK but RX no so good. I have made all ajustments according to the Cobra manual as well as taking a look at and applying other options from other documents that I have here.
Any suggestion, something I am missing/ forgetting?
