This morning at precisely 5:10 am I awoke to what I thought was a loud THUMP! downstairs. My wife was at work at the hospital on the night shift so I knew it was not her so I called out to the dog. She was laying on her bed on the floor of the bedroom. As I lay there listening intently I felt the urge to go to the bathroom. As I ventured down the hall I suddenly felt weak and a chilling cold enveloped my body as if a cold wind had swept through the house. I shook off the feeling and returned to bed where I laid awake until 6:30, time to get up. Shortly before I left for work my wife called me to tell me my uncle had passed away during the night. He had been on the downhill slide for a couple months and quite badly the past two weeks. His wife and adult children were with him at the time as was my wife as she is a nurse and was on-shift at the time. I asked her when during the night as I had been talking to her at 11:00pm the previous evening. She said he passed away at "ten minutes after five this morning". Coincidence or more than that? I have had some things happen in this house in the past that have made me a firm believer of things beyond the physical normals as we know them.Things I believe in but cannot explain.
Dave moved here from Maryland with his wife,my aunt whom he had met in Germany in the '50's when he was in the USAF and she in the RCAF, and built a house next door to me about 1992-93 when he retired. While in the USAF in Germany he became an extremely skilled code breaker and Russian linguist expert and was under the direction of the NSA. Later he joined the US Postal Service from which he retired. To all he was well liked but to me he was my uncle, my neighbor, and my friend and will be sadly missed.
RIP Dave
