Looking for feedback on the West Mountain Radio Clr Dsp processor. Have or had one and how well it worked for you?
Thx in advance

The guru is slowmover...
I have one going on about 2 months connected to my Cobra29LTD. Does it work ABSOLUTELY. It does make a difference being able to copy someone in the hash or not being able to copy them. If I was doing an Eham review I’d probably give it 4.5 out of 5. On my station it’s on all the time, not something I turn on/off. Mine is being run through a Kenwood KES-5 external speaker.
Slowmover loves his but I think he has the one with the DSP and speaker not the stand alone DSP. I’m sure he’ll be along shortly with his expert opinion based on real life experience.
Thx NightThumper,
What's a typical noise level/floor for you and does it help with copying weaker signals?
I've read all of Slowmover's posts and I know how crazy he is about it but I don't need the speaker.

The only this I hate about it is.... It's very slow to start working. After you unkey it takes a good 5 sec. To fully start processing the signal
The bhi dsp starts instantly

I have both and the bhi starts working instantly as you unkey while the west mountain takes its sweet ass time
My typical noise floor is S-3. The DSP unit reduces the white noise by I’d say 1/3 so yes when you remove that it makes copy on weak signals easier. Because it’s on all the time I tend to forget it’s even on.. All that being said there’s nothing like a radio with a nice receiver like my IC-7300 and Lincoln II +
I think Slowmover is right about the WMR speaker being better. If I turn the volume all the way down I can just hear the DSP processing in the background through the KES-5 speaker. I’d like to try the all in one unit to compare it to the stand alone. My favorite speaker is my Icom SP-41 which is outstanding with it’s built in filters and allows me to share two radios with one speaker as it has an A/B switch.
