please state the state you live in first.

Here in the SW US, southern Nevada to be specific. we have a few different patterns that seem to hold true across sunspot cycles.

we have skip that runs up and down the pacific north west region, and can talk to Oregon, Washington, and northern California.
this is more popular in the summer evenings.

then we have our mid-western skip that usually involves Texas and its surrounding areas.

then we have florida.
and boy oh boy do we get an ear full of Florida when that skip is running!

so, for us, the top three would be Oregon, Texas, and Florida.

you?

Texas here and because it's a huge state I'll be specific by saying the panhandle. It's almost as if we're our own state up here. Anyhow, Alabama is the most frequent, southern California next with Tennessee right beside it but not far behind Hawaii. An operator that goes by beans & rice from Tijuana Mex has been on regularly. I hear Mr BBI often and trucks cb both pretty often. The boys from the Bam I hear constantly and they love the wind up toys

thanks for the replies.

eldorado, we do get hawaii here with some regularity also.
usually on channel 11.

mudfoot, when you get Florida, do you also get Pennsylvania and NY?

if so, that seems like the same kind of skp we have when we get california through washington.

Talked some AM tonight into the mini grass, first time this year it’s opened up for me. Always love talking to the bruddahs in the islands.

Most of the time we just get a ton of California In the summer here in the NW.

Here in the lower Florida Keys, my most recent DX experiences have been with North Carolina, Georgia and Alabama. Much to my surprise, I am hearing lots of North Florida, too: Pensacola, Panama City Beach, Tallahassee and even the Jacksonville area. In the past, I'd only get North Florida during summer thunderstorms.

Next in line are Kentucky, South Carolina and Tennessee. In years past when skip was booming, I'd get lots of New York, New Jersey, Arizona and California. The pattern this year has definitely been different.

Let's see how the summer skip patterns play out.

midnight special, you're saying that you don't have an almost constant ear full of the west coast when the conditions are good?
LC
nope when we get west coast it will be the mojave guys and baja stations,,,,we only get any thing else only when the spots come back,,,, weather is our best friend for skip,, storms in the texas oklahoma areas get some crossing the gulf,,,midwest storms get us some too,,,, i live in the lightening capital of the usa,,, storms every day in the summer time,,,in the evenings there is a duct that opens up to chesapeke bay area and depending on the weather a duct will open up across the gulf to north texas beaumont area,,, caught jessejames one day that way,,, rick330man,, what ya are hearing from north florida has been called by many back scatter skip,,, sometimes it will get bad and ya can hear east coast talking gulf coast but we here cant get into it,,, but i have made contacts to panhandle when really trying hard,,,

There have been a few occasions during our summer thunderstorms where I was getting Apopka (north Orlando), Tampa and Daytona Beach - basically the I-4 corridor. It doesn't happen too often, but it is interesting when it does.

i live on the 1 4 corridor,,interesting thought here,, i get out on a quiet night about 100 miles north and south and to the west coast,, but only to the winterhaven area to the east,, according to the ones around here it is because of the ridge that goes down the middle of the state,,,i can here skip come in here calling and talking to east coast florida but when that is going on we never can get in there,,,
