Just a guess, but that "longggggg trimmer" may be a 5 kc jump. I've seen something like that done in a Cobra 132 XLR.

Or it could be something to have switchable "broadbanding" of the VCO if its proximity to that circuit is any clue.

Only real way to find out for sure is to trace the wires controlling the relay next to it and flip that switch to see what happens.

The rest of it, no idea. The smarter people that hang out here will probably have some more ideas.

your right took it off had to re-touch L19 to bring it back

The pic of the rear-panel 3.5 mm jack that was added has a pink wire that bonds the circuit-board ground to the chassis ground. Generally this is a no-no for radios like this built with a floating DC ground. And if it doesn't cause any mysterious "ground loop" noises, it won't be a problem. Only some of the modification wiring is visible, so not sure what that jack is about. The tiny circuit board with the transistor looks like a circuit to key a transmit relay.

Maybe.

i took all the gizmo off that 3.5 jack and including the 2 extra crystals for lower and upper channels put it back to stock as possible i left the clarifier open but align it at 12 o'clock
the rf meter doesn't work i spray contact cleaner but no go i also notice the volume is a tad like low compare to my other 2k

well meter is fixed good video on youtube on how to fix it dam meter going for $30.00 to $40.00 now for the low receive volume maybe a dirty pot
