On a yagi type driven element that is typically grounded, what is actually going on with the gamma matcher?
I suspect that it creates an insulation point for the coax and that it allows you to locate a tap point to the element, but what, if anything else, it is doing?
Does it have a resonating quality?
Is the gamma what is being tuned when we are making the adjustments?
We are trying to reach a 50 ohm tap point on the element. Is that point actually on the element or is it what we find at the boom end of the matcher where the coax center conductor connects?
