Seems like Fred has been paroled. He's back on 3.872 doing his best to position other hams under his contaminated wing. The upside is there have been lots of west coast band openings on 3.870 AM. Looks like the appropriate time to fire up and work some coast to coast AM would be just before 9 PM EST
