What is the right way to install a connex board in a Grant?

You need a 8 volt source on your Grant XL ? Pin 3 of the MB3756 Regulator on the side of the radio ,I've been hearing good things about those boards K.M. ......yeah , there all pretty much the same other then a few of the older ones liked 8 volts rather then 12 volts , and they have been referred to as Connex boards by many over the years .no big deal. Like rodger beeps , some like them and some don't ,no big deal once again. Most of the boards are very easy and very simlar how they are wired , fairly easy to say the least , this should give you a pretty good idea .... ECHO BOARD If the colors are right ? red to 12 volts on off switch of the radio / black to ground jack on the mic plug/ you can put the two grounds together on j1 and j2 and they will also go to the mic plugs ground ....the others will go to the audio pin of the mic jack and the audio wire from the mic jack that goes to the board or follows to the mic gain control of the radio (you will remove that wire from the mic plug and put the white audio input wire from the board on that wire) , have fun and take your time .....if it doesn't work the first time ? as long as you got the grounds and power wire correct , just reverse the two audio wires (one to mic plug and one from the audio wire of the radio that came from the mic plug) . On the Grant XL you can also cut the audio trace on the mic plugs board and do the two audio wires like that (one on each side of the cut) I find that to be the easiest way on a Grant XL , but the other way will work as well . Good Luck to you. SK

Pin 1 of that regulator IC will deliver a full-time 8-v source, as well. If it were me, I'd simply run the power lead of the echo board through a small resistor (680 ohms or so) to the radio's power switch. Those MB3756 regulators are NOT cheap, and the less load you put on them, the better.
