Here's what I did.

I took the mod out that is in the picture. Took the diode out of r264 and put the proper resister in its place. Did an alignment according to the specs I found on CBtricks. Now the radio is doing 175pep instead of 210pep. The RF power is still 10 - 40 and the radio runs much cooler.


I'm tempted to try the super swing mod but with the variable RF power what would be the reason in doing that.


I think I might need to mess with the modulation again as I can hear it kicking in and stealing away some of my audio at times.


Well, I think this radio will last much longer now.


I didn't find any info on setting the Bias on the final and base. Does anyone have this info? 


Thank you all for the info on this and getting me going in the right direction with it.


It still has a tiny bit of muffled audio in it. It don't sound as good as my 98VHP. Anyone got a clue as to why that might be or how to correct it?
