What should this radio be worth?

I have an HR2510 that is in nearly like new condition.

It needs a little work, it has NEVER been modded, not even modded for CB use.

even has the original hand mic

I plan to send it to DOC in NY and have everything done, new torrid coils, new caps, upgraded final (MRF455?) external speaker connector, talkback removal, variable power, unlocked clarifier (RIT) and what ever else he wants to do

And of course a full alignment

so what do you all think an HR2510 this clean will sell for?

It really all depends on the buyer.

I'm a stubborn fan of the 2510, and have a small collection of them now. The best of the bunch I got from a ham. I had to show him my license before he would sell it to me. He bought it new, had chipswitched it, "for the features only," and claimed to never have broadcast on 11 meters "so it's never been dirtied up." I saw that radio on the scope before I bought it. I paid $175 for that one (and dirtied it up) and that's the most I've spent on one.

I put alot of work into setting up a station for a relative who was injured in a wreck. He ended up pissing it all away and sold everything. He had two 2510's both tuned up by Rogerbird. The better of the two was destroyed in the wreck. He sold the other one for $250 because it had Rogerbird's tune up. It had paint missing from the covers and the VFO knob was obviously not original. He got some sucker to go all googly eyed over it because it had been to Rogerbird.

I would start at $200 but don't be surprised if nobody bites at that price. Expect it to sell for less unless you can get someone to get crazy over the Doc connection on it.

It's definitely all buyer. I've owned those radios new when they came out.

I wouldn't even be interested in one now, unless it was brand new in box. Even then, I wouldn't pay over a $100. I don't care if Rogerbird or Grandpa Walton tuned the thing.

Same thing goes for Cobra 2000's.

Buyers market, You will spend more getting all the bells and whistles installed, aligned than what the radio is worth.

2510 in it's day is a great SSB rig, but now days there are FULL MODE HF rigs available with filters and all the bells and whistles for a few dollars more than that 2510.

Unless you just get some dumb*ss to buy it. It is worth market value, start at $150 and see how many turn there nose up and walk away.

think it would be worth more unmodded, tis rado has never been touched as far as mods go

Perhaps on the Zed that will bring more money. The whole "It's never been dirtied up." thing that I experienced from an old Zedder on one.

I would expect in the open market it would need 11 meters to sell for more.

What's a 1975 Mustang II worth?

To a collector that car is worth more untouched.

To the kid down the street it's worth more if it has cool wheels and a big block with a cam.

Problem is, there are not that many collectors of Mustang II's out there so your best bet would be the kid down the street.

Especially Grandpa Walton...he was a shi**y tech.

I paid $100 for mine shipping included. Took a chance though because the seller only knew it powered up. Had no mic to try tx and didn't know he had to put the two wires in the aux plug together to hear rx. Luckily for me it works great. I'm using it as my base and considering getting one for the truck and one for the jeep.
