i just picked up a PC68xl to play with, and while looking around the net for different mods; i ran across this page.

these guys are doing something very complicated to these radios, and its not for talking to people.

they are talking about making the radio put out freqs. that bee mites can hear, or those that are used to treat infections?

WTF?????

can someone let me in on the secret of what the heck these CB alchemists are into?
here is the link:

this is some weird stuff!
lots to read, but whatever these guys are doing; they are really into it.

so whats the story?

PS-any and all good mods for this radio are welcome in this thread.

I didn't read the whole thing, but the basics are that they want to modulate with a pure square wave, and the CB needs to be modified to do that. Normal CB use doesn't use ANY square waves, because the human voice doesn't have square waves in it. This ties in with the normal arguments about AMC removal, because removing the AMC makes the voice fequencies clip at their peaks (positive and negative), generating square waves. Those square waves are what causes the raspy distortion (not to mention the extra bleedover) coming from a clipped radio.

sounds to me they were just experimenting and having fun , maybe even if they didn't know what they were doing ? People believe and do the strangest things. Weather or not it's scientifically sound or not. I've known to many people over the years (including myself) once upon a time a go , that they just had to have that limiter clipped. Have fun. :)

That's a bizarre site. They evidently believe that the radiated signals they are using a CB to generate have healing powers of some sort. It's nothing to do with using a CB as anyone generally knows it.

Basically they are using the CB to transmit healing radio waves....very very odd.

the basics sound like they are removing the audio transformer and direct modulating the carrier in order to get a superwide audio bandwidth,
which if used for cb use would need external eq and limiting otherwise it sounds like crap,

there are plenty of people including myself that have done this on a cb and we have the voodoo audio crew on hf, but its not to cure folk of ailments,
the idea is to get AM broadcast audio bandwidth, the downside is you need a receiver with at least 7.5k audio bandwidth to hear it propperly and you are wide occupying more than one ch, it seems to be the latest craze,

thats clearly not what these guys are doing, maybe they are into a different kinda voodoo,
modding a radio only makes me feel better if it sounds better than a stock radio

ok,
i just had to know more, so i did some reading.
what these guys are doing is modifying old CB radios to make a device called a "rife/bare device."

back in the 1920's there was a doctor named Royal Rife who invented a machine that used radio waves to energize a tube which would emit frequencies that were resonant with different diseases.
namely cancer.
he became quite famous for this device, and apparently healed 16 people of cancer during a demonstration of it.
(article said they went into remission shortly after using the machine.

well, for some reason he was considered kind of a quack by the medical society, and his device faded into obscurity.
presently there is a large group of people trying to recreate this device, but no one has done it yet.
they are very close they think.
the device sends out waves which are resonant with certain cells in the body, and kills them off.
they say the waves can also be used to boost the immune system.

pretty cutting edge stuff really. the company that sells the product these guys are homebrewing is called Resonant Light Technologies, and they are based in canada.

while doing a bit of searching on them, i found out that they have a facility right here in the city i live in.
i imagine they do experimental cancer treatments there using this machine.

here's a interesting link if anyone wants to know more:
http://www.industryinet.com/~ruby/rifebare1.html

no, i am not affiliated in any way with this company.
i just realized it might sound that way.
i just thought it was cool to think about what radio waves can actually do.

anyone heard the recent theory that cell phone waves are killing off all the bees?
