While the dynamic mic was Radio Shacks most popular some of the older 23 channel radios used a ceramic hi impedance element. The mic looked the same, just the element was different. When the radios went from tubes to transistors, they still ran the mic inputs as hi impedance for a few years before the designs changed to low impedance. The reality is your dynamic mic should have produced some audio if it were wired right and the radio was working. The audio would be low but detectable.
