I still have this imax up at 42 FT to the bottom. Still has 1-3 of static on my meter most everyday. I have done all the test and had the power company out. I was gonna see if anyone has used a GP kit with any success before I trash this thing> I thought I saw somewhere that it made a difference but I cant find the thread??

Anyone ??

Thanx

Well, I've got the GP kit but I didn't install it because of my temporary setup for this winter. Mounted at 12ft. off the ground. Talked to Australia last week (8000miles) and Hawaii (4000miles) a couple weeks before. I am planning to run it up to 48ft this summer with the GP kit, but if its going to benefit just the locals ...

When you say "42 feet to the bottom"; do yo mean the entire antenna height is 42 ft from the top to the ground - or 42 ft to the antenna's feedpoint?

I have 1-3 S-units of static every day.
Sometimes more; but always changing one way or another. If you live in a suburb of a town or city - expect static.
Who doesn't?
That is normal for just about any vertical antenna.

You might have a lot of static being generated by your neighbors - or even your own appliances. What do you expect?

Don't expect the ground plane kit to solve an unsolvable noise issue. Put it on if you have it, as this will help out transmit a little. If you think an A99 antenna is going to be better; then you might want to keep the IMAX until you compare it against the A99. You may well find yourself putting the IMAX back up in a hurry.

I traded my last A99 for a Tektronix oscilloscope. Boy, was that a great deal!
I've talked half way around the world with the IMAX antenna. Nothing wrong with it.
