So I noticed there's not many HF/VHF/UHF rigs on the market. Is there any reason why?

I had one ham tell me he doesn't like the idea of VHF and UHF being in the same box as HF, but he wouldn't say why, other than it was his opinion.

Just wondering.....

Based on what is there now, I think there are quite a few.

Yaesu

FT-817ND
FT-857D
FT-897D

Icom

IC-7000

Kenwood

TS-2000

I mean, that's 5 models in current production

I think that "all in one" kind of radio probably isn't the best idea in the world. There's nothing wrong with it really, but one 'goof' and it's all gone instead of maybe just one band or two. It's just one way of thinking about it. The same sort of thingy as a "radio in a computer". I've had more trouble with computers than I have with radios, you know? As in both 'self made' problems and those that just happen.

(Of course, after I win the lottery, I'm gonna have a couple of'em, and just use these separate radios for back-up!)

I got a shack in the box Icom 706markII

It is all mode and after shopping around looking at 6 meter and 2 meter all modes it seemed like the thing to get for the amount of $$.

It works as it should, nothing impressive but not a bad rig, sits on the shelf in the original box.
