Looking for the wiring of a D-104 mic connector for a Midland 13-898B 23 channel SSB Base Station. This radio is not listed in the Astatic Mic Wiring Guide. Any help would be greatly appreciated... Dan

It a four wire, red, black, shield and clear Astatic D-104...

Because it's Sunday and I had nothing better to do...

"Clear" or white wire - pin 1 - Audio
Shield - pin 2 (which is also tied to pin 3 according to the schematic)- Ground
Red - pin 4 - TX

This is a relay switched radio, so the black wire (RX) doesn't appear to be used in this case. If you'd like to connect it somewhere so it's not just floating pin 3 looks like a good spot.

Disclaimer: I don't have a 13-898B or a 4 wire D104 to test this on, so I can't be held responsible if the magic smoke escapes.

That didn't work, I even reversed black and red like they said in an old post. This radio is not listed in Astatic's Mic Wiring Guide... Dan

It depends what wiring book edition you have. It is in this one. Note there are five ways to wire it depending on what the mike base is.
Thanks Captain Kilowatt, my Model 13-898B does not appear in the book you sent either.... Dan (It only goes to 13-888)

Well, that sucks.

The wire colors I gave were for the D-104 TUG8 model, or at least that's what the doc said they were.

There is the possibility that some previous owner rewired the mic plug on the radio side to make it compatible with another brand's mic wiring scheme. Quick way to check that would be short mic plug pins 2 and 4 together. If the radio goes into transmit it's probably original. If it does nothing or catches fire, could be modified.
