I love my Xcelite ps88 screwdriver set. Comes in handy around the shack, but that smell...
I know you know what im talking about. That odor that some old tools develop over time. Xcelite tools are notorious for it. I believe its a chemical reaction between the metal and the plastic handle that produces an odor i compare to stinky cheese. Some call it puke but i prefer to call it cheese.
Anyone else like that Xcelite cheese or have other cheesy tools in the shack/shop?

VESSEL wood-handle Industrial line.

Being phased out. Magnetized tip. The type that can be used with a hammer to the end. Paid a small fortune for eight (8) to ship from Japan about a year ago. Nicest I’ve ever owned.

Wrong size for this gear, but

. . gotta be collectors vintage stuff somewhere.

The plasticky handle crap from box stores got to go. Forever.

I don't own any of these but Williams makes the older style Snap-on screwdrivers. These look like them except they have black handles instead of orange.....I tried to post the Amazon link but it's not working right.

I have some prybars that have the strike through design. I managed to drive one between the steering gear and frame of a concrete mixer and couldn't get it out.

I decided to clamp 3 sets of vice grips around the pry bar, grabbed the crane and wrapped a chain around it. The front tire came off of the ground before the pry bar broke. The snap on guy was really impressed.

All Vessel tools are high quality. I don’t have any of those wood handle tools yet, but I’m drooling over them. They’re one of the few companies that sell Ceramic Alignment tools. Every respectable tweaker should own a couple. I have their 9000 series .9mm and 1.3mm drivers.

I had a set of "X" hollow long shaft, magnetic nut drivers. They came in special custom case, with snap lid. I finally gave them away, after about 6 months.
Could not handle the odor!!!
I then purchased a set of Klein tools nut drivers, very happy with those. They are actually more comfortable to use. They are just "slightly" shorter than the "X" brand.
They of course were more expensive (Klein) but grips are better, and USA made!(y)
I should have known to purchase the Klein originally.
I would say 95% of everything in my tool boxes, is made USA.
I always looked for USA made first.
I think I bought the "X" set from a trade show rep, we had at the stadium.
I do have a couple pairs of "X" made board nippers here, I keep on the bench.
They have "totally" different composition grips.
I do prefer those over the Crescent brand, I also own.
I do notice they "snip" better than my others, they however do not hold the edge as well as my Crescent (US made) or the Ideal brand(German made), that I also have in the "bench" tool box.

I've used my Xcelite for about 20 years. I gave a sniff no cheese noticed. Smelled a bit more like Puss# Yes maybe I used for more than electronics...:) I do love my WHIA the most. A bit pricey however you can get them half price if you look for offers.
