Not on MS.

Reinstalled Xp and can't get Flash player etc, no service packs.

Anyone know where I can get the discontinued SP's?

You might want to burn a disc of all of the service packs for future reference . . .

Nope, new install.

Started with SP1A and no response from the server on the install.. MS no longer supports XP.

When installing SP1A, I get a thing that says the server will not respond.

That is what MS says about no support for XP anymore.

I think what that means is that they are not going to write any new updates for future hardware for that OS.
I just updated my Xp/OS about an hour ago with a few things - just to see that it is still updating.

Download pack 3.

Microsoft will not update from the first 2 service packs. You must have pack 3 in order to get any updates at all. Best to get a disc from someone with service pack 3. Once you update save an image of your install for future use. Clonezilla is free, Partitition Magic can be had on Ebay real cheap for XP/Vista.

You are right.

My mistake was thinking that I had to start with SP1 or 1A.

Went to SP2 and it went well after that.

Can't do the verification thing (I think) because I tend to repair my own stuff.

If a motherboard or HD goes bad, I replace it, so MS seems to think this disc is installed on more than the two computers that it is.
