I had one for a while, decent rig with good receiver, the older 101ZDmkIII I replaced it with is much better though. Actually now that I think about it I had the 301d, the display didn't work but I had the external vfo and used that to tune.

It's got a bad humm sound...dont know if I should even repair it yet

You might try replacing the electrolytic filter capacitor/capacitors in the power supply. If the hum is everywhere, that's the first place I'd look just to see. You might not be able to get genuine OEM parts, but capacitors made today are lightyears ahead of the old components.

Thanks beetle!

Coax question. I just put up a new Sirio monsoon base antenna with 100’ of rg8u coax testing with myMFJ antenna analyzer shows 1.4 swr at 26.965mhz and a 1.1 at 27.405 mhz . When I checked the ohms it’s steady a 30 ohms across the entire bandwidth.

Is 30 ohms worth worrying about in a 100’ run of rg8u ?
