I have a Yaesu FT-100D which I'm not really using and considered selling, however someone just offered to trade my Yaesu for a Modified Uniden President HR2510.. The only reason I'm considering this is because my son wants an 11 meter radio (CB) for his mobile and the Yaesu does not have this band other than just the RX option unlike the modded HR2510. Is this trade worth it or are they just trying to get over on me? Can the Yaesu be modded for 11 meters? If so, that just might be the better option.. I just dont know... :confused1:

Thanks for your feedback!!

The guy who offered to make that trade is trying to pull a fast one on you. If you really want to make the trade, get him to kick some cash in.

The Yeasu is worth 2 to 3 times what the 2510 is worth easy...Not saying the 2510 isnt a nice radio but if it were me I would mod teh Yeasu and buy the 2510 outright if I had the extra scratch to do so

Thanks for all your feedback. It was very helpful and the info reguarding the mods were very useful..

Thanks again!!

If your son is a licensed ham, then the Yaesu is a better deal. (although some hams will cry about modding the Yaesu since it is not supposed to be used on CB) If he is not a ham, it would be cheaper to buy a CB than to make the trade being offered. Unless, the person wanting to trade is wiling to part with some extra cash for the Yaesu. I would want at least $500-$600 cash plus his 2510 in trade for the Yaesu if it were mine.
While a decent radio for CB or 10 meters, the 2510 is not the equal of your Yaesu.
Not to mention is is long out of production and some parts will be hard to find should it need repair. (finals)

I wouldn't put no more than 3 bills in an FT-100. To many "important" parts are no longer available.

I did read it...

Parts availability or should I say unavailability, is same for the "D" model.

I agree, 300 for a working used one is acceptable. I was at a recent hamfest in Peoria IL and they were selling items from a SK. They had an FT-100 NON D with no output, they wanted $300, and it looked like someone shit all over the outside of it

Proud they were of that thing
