Hi Everyone, I have a Yaesu FT-857 (NON "D" VERSION) and at the same time I have lost the TX on both 2 meter & 440 on all modes (RX is fine). You can hear at very short distance with no audio distortion (maybe a few hundred feet). The HF & 6 meter are fine. I never had an SWR above 1.7 on either VHF/UHF band. RF power at max power. I did a master reset of the rig thinking something may have "burped" in the unit but, still no difference. Has anyone ran across this problem before? Any help short of sending this back to Yaesu would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Bill (KD2AKQ)

Sounds like the final is shot or there is a broken connection inside the radio going to the antenna jack. That radio uses a separate final for VHF/UHF.

Hello CK, Would that happen to be the "True" elusive, non-manufactured anymore Mitsubishi 2SC3102 P/O final that's only available as a "Fake" 2SC3102 from Honk Kong? Thanks for the reply, Bill (KD2AKQ)

I am not sure about the availability of it but it is the 2SC3102. That transistor is quite rugged and specs say it will handle an SWR of 20:1 at 60 watts output on 520MHz with 15.2 volts on it. That still doesn't mean it isn't shot however. take a good look at the antenna connection inside the radio especially if you happen to connect/disconnect the antenna a lot.
