Crews and Air Craft Are fighting The "Motor" Fire in Yosemite National Park this Morning.
The Fire was started yesterday Afternoon by a Motor Home traveling on HWY 140 in the park, The vehicle caught fire, and one of the Propane tanks burst, spreading fire to both sides of the hwy.
Cal Fire is Assisting the US Forest Service With Crews and Air Craft.

I am Listening to Air and Ground Crews this Morning.
As of 07:30 PST There is One Air Crew on the fire, and Many ground crews.
They Are also Mobilizing 3 Dozer Crews Moving into position from Badger Pass to the Crane Flat South Landing ( for those that know the Area) to start Cutting fire Breaks.
A Command center has been set up At Cedar Lodge.
Hwy 140 Into and out of the Park is Restricted.

Incident Overview

About 1200 Aug. 25, a motor home caught fire in the Merced River Canyon near Calif. Hwy 140 in Mariposa County. Fire spread to both sides of the Merced River, on the Sierra National Forest to the south and the Stanislaus National Forest to the north. As of 1900 about 1000 acres habitat burned with the fire mostly moving up the north slope towards Trumbull Peak where a historic fire lookout tower sits. Spotters are directing helicopter drops in the area of the tower in an attempt to preserve the structure. The Sierra National Forest is directing the response.
In cooperation and support to the Sierra National Forest, Yosemite National Park has provided two "hotline" numbers for the public to call for fire informaiton 24 hours per day: (209) 372-0372 or 372-0379.

The Central Sierra Type two Incident Management Team will be on scene Aug. 26 to take command of the fire response efforts. Additional fire resources have been ordered.

Terrain Difficulty:
The fire is terrain driven in very steep canyon slopes, and has burned to the top of the ridges above the Merced River on both sides of the canyon.
Remarks:

Local Law enforcement recommend procationary measures.
Stay away from Hwy 140 heading to Yosemite National Park.
Residence south of the Yosemite maintenance station are being evacuated.

USFS and Cal Fire have a good handle on the Fire, Hwy 140 Was opened Yesterday Morning.
Air crews were still dropping fire retardant yesterday.

Incident Overview

Today Ground crews will continue rehab and mop-up of the incident, back haul operations have started. Last night the fire activity was light. Firefighters and equipment will remain along Hwy 140 and in the communities, travelers are reminded to use caution when driving alond Hwy 140
Stanislaus National Forest Road 1S12 remains closed until further notice.
