I'm not afraid of anything. What I'm talking about is the very first antenna I ever built. It didn't look as good as the ones I market but it performed well enough to continue on. I rolled a coil with seven full coils, put it on a 27" shaft mounted 22" back away from the back window of my old 88...
The 27" shaft antennas are designed for pickup bed rails and tool boxes. The antenna will tune best with a 12", 17" ot 22" shaft mounted towards the back of the vehicle. Kale
Everything will get back in order soon. I'm working on a two in one antenna for the serious cbers. It will be the competition antenna with two tops. One for the drive around stick and another top for the slightly bigger whip that comes with the competition antenna. It's like having two different...
Just how old do you have to be to know what you're doing to have a good set up. I'm 69 years old and been building the 10k antenna for 14 years now. What's so good about 1.5.1 What's wrong with 1.0? It depends on whether you want an omnidirectional antenna or a directional antenna. It all...
If you guys want to see the best set up for a car, email me at cowtown10k@msn.com. The best set up is on the trunk. It is easy to ground and is a killer in the direction you are pointed. I have a 22" comp mounted on the far back of the trunk of my little Monte Carlo NASCAR and is the best set...
sixwheeler, which 10k do you have? Is it a single coil or a two coil? What kind of vehicle do you have it mounted on and where do you have it mounted? Kale
You're right about the radiating characteristics of the coil antenna. The only part that should radiate on a well designed coil antenna is the top 1/3 of the coil on up. This gives it a "bow tie" effect radiation pattern which helps keep more of the signal on the ground. Kale
I didn't say it works better than a 6 element quad. I said it works better for ME than the six element quad I had. A Signal Engineer Lightning 6. Like I said, I got tired of repairing it from wind damage. I guess now you're going to tell me it wasn't put together right. I'm not desperate at...
I'm not saying the antenna will perform as well as any 6 element quad but it is doing better than the quad I had. I like it because I don't have to worry about wind storms any more. You still need to talk to the man and let him explain how it works vertical AND horizontal.
Do you have a 6 element quad? I'm not talking about only skip conditions. I'm not telling the man that designed this antenna anything. I mean what I said. You need to talk to him yourself.
