I wasn't going to post my feelings about Coily's antennas, but I feel I must.
I have boasted greatly about the quality of Coily's new Mega antennas, and how well they perform. They do look bitchin and perform superbly. But, I have been having serious problems with the threads in the aluminum shaft that hold the set screws and the 3/8" mounting stud at the bottom stripping. I have had to drill new holes and tap them for new set screws due to the aluminum stripping. I have also had to drill and tap a hole in the side where the 3/8" mounting stud is located to install a set screw to hold the stud in place due to the threads in the aluminum stripping. I don't know if it is just too soft an aluminum, but this has been extremely aggrivating to say the least. I have to do alot of slip seating with these antennas and constantly have to readjust the stinger length because of different vehicle mounting. Maybe the constant loosening and retightening of the studs has caused the stripping, but I don't thinks so, the aluminum should be durable enough to withstand this. This post is not a cut or dig at Coily, just some flaws "as I see it" in the aluminum being used )maybe too soft?) Maybe not. But I haven't had this problems with the Predator 10k's stripping. Also, the Megas are one solid piece - so ya' can't change the bad part out for another.
Just my opinion, Hossless
