Because of its small size and portability, the Alexloop is great for weekend getaways and vacations to the mountains, lake, or beach. Set it up in your campground, hotel balcony or own back yard. Covers 7-30 mHz.
Want stealth? It doesn't get much stealthier than this.
For club members, my guess is this antenna would be a big hit on Field Days.
There are lots of great videos of the Alexloop in action on youtube.
I don't think you'll find a better price anywhere on one in this condition.

Thanks!

Jumped the gun.

To those in the know how would one of these work on a shortwave receiver? Does it require a transmitted signal to tune it to the frequency you're on?

I may be interested but I have no idea of its suitability for receive only use.

I only used it for listening as I had no license to transmit.
Went through the band till I heard activity and then tuned the antenna until the person talking was at his loudest.
Tuned several in so that they sounded like they were sitting next to me.

I did a quick google search and found several articles about the use of magnetic loop antennas for SWL.

What an excellent antenna. I always assumed that these Loop antennas were large in size. After reading the eham reviews it's obvious someone got an excellent deal on this terrific antenna.
