Coax ?

Two questions; two answers:

1. Not I.
2. Probably just as good as Radio Shack coax - or just as BAD.

Try to find coax that's made by companies listed on the US military's "Qualified Products List" (QPL) for the product you're looking for. In this case, coaxial cable, the number is MIL-QPL-C17" (sometimes it reads MIL-DTL-17). Either way, you get a list of companies. Just reading down the list, I found these:

Coleman Cable
Times Microwave
Mercury Wire Products
Rockbestos Suprenant
Belden
Berk-Tek
Remee Products
Brand-Rex

...and there were several others. Don't listen to those who tell you that "this cable is just as good...it's an RG-8 clone...RG-8 style...". None of that. Look for the manufacturer's name or logo.

I'm sure it is junk but will work just fine. With RG-8X its all about the % of shielding. Check out the braid and see if there are any holes in it or if it is tightly braided. The tighter the better.
