This could just be the beginning for you NC-420 ,first comes the easy light bulb change and before you know it you'll have your own business (-: lid's off ,you'll see two wires going into the side of the meter (that's your 12 volt light bulb) it's usually stuck into the side with a rubber gasket goodie , it might be glued and you can cut away at the glue to pull it out ,if it's an older model chances are the glue will be deteriorated and it will just pull right out , Rat Shack will have the bulb you need for about a buck or two , you can either cut the wires and splice into those (solder) and use some electrical tape or heat shrink tubing to cover the joints,or you could just follow the wires to the board and solder them that way , Hows the meter itself working NC ? the needle pretty much working well with incoming and out going signals ? if yes is your answer then just a new bulb will do ,if not ,a new meter for the radio already comes with a new light bulb installed in it ,CB shops and Ebay should have those for you if need be .
