driving a 300gray

Almost all of the CB type amps built like this at the time ( is it a grey 300, or a gray 300, metal toggle switches? pictures will help us see what one it is) were made to work with a radio only.

Even the ones that said hi-drive did not like more than 5 or 6 watts carrier, and were never meant to be used with 70 or 80 watts input.

Mine looks similar to that it has a power meter in the middle where the switches are and all of the switches are on the right side but should be the same far as input watts go thanls for the info guys

The Gray 150 and 300 amps came from the manufacturer with pop rivets fastening the case. If the case is being held by screws, that indicates the amp was overdriven and the resistors on the power selector switch were overheated then replaced.
3 watts key and 20 watts peak swing is all the drive they will take before problems start happening.
