I bought one new back then and had it reworked.

It did over 1000 peak on a PDC Meter, I dont know how high it went because meter only went to 1000. It was the best base amp I ever owned. I talked the heck out of it and it held up with no problems. It wasnt hard on the tubes either. I know I was driving it with more than 4 watts. I think it was about 7.

AM, I dont know about the 20lb, and lx6, that you mentioned. However, the 20lf6, is gonna be basically the same tube as a 27lf6, and also, the 6lf6..just different voltages. So, the only somewhat compatible substitute is gonna be the good old, EL509/519. That will still require some extensive work, but, other than spending close to $50 a tube, thats definatly the cheaper way to go....

Well, $150 aint bad for that amp then, if its in good working condition. Personally, I buy those old amps all the time, just for the fact I like the way they look, and how they sound.Plus, it's more of a nostalgic thing too I guess. Someone gotta keep theese old DAK radios, and sweep tube amps alive!!!!! Just remember, if the tubes go out, you're gonna pay a pretty hefty price to ge them all back in order again!! Even if you get some old tubes, possibly used, or N.O.S, still lookin at another 300-500, to get it back up. Is it worth it to you???

and its snowwwin in the garden......
