I gave up,as most EC ops in the USA, EC activities after 9/11, due to the increase in military traffic on HF.I personally would not operate on the "45M EC band" for the same reason.

Only if you insist on being an "outlaw". Getting a ham license today is such a no-brainer, that why would anyone bother with HF freebanding?
Unless one is dedicated to being an "outlaw", or intentionally being a renegade, personally, I just don't get Echo-Charlie operation.
