Rogerbird,

In this area of your mods pages we are instructed to remove D101. Is there a replacement diode for this one or is it simply left out when the new transistor is installed?

HI,

In that mod, it is asking to just remove the diode.. no replacement.

I have heard from others that it isn't a good idea to remove it.. it may cause front end oveload

if you do. so you can leve it alone if you want.

I would try it but try it by unsoldeing one end and lifitng one end out of the board, and if it causes undesired

results restore it.

(personally I have not tried that mod.)

I have also heard that the ECG 123 replacement causes a lot of amplification and in some cases ...

too much.. If you try it.. keep the original component handy to replace it if you don't like the results.

Steve,

You are correct. I have also had several others inquire about this mod, and many comments regarding the removal of D101.

I have added a note to the page quoting Jim Shorney's page at :

http://incolor.inetnebr.com/jshorney/2510.htm ,

and the sugestion of leaving the D101 diode intact.

Thanks,

Roger
