What sort of SWR do you think you could get on this?

that would be cool for folks that cant have traditional antennas at home . they could put up a fountain and no one would ever know .

Can't help wondering if it rains and dilutes the salt water does the signal reduce.

I still think i'd have difficulty convincing the local council that having a fountain on the roof is a sound idea.Although with the amount of rain we get in central scotland it would be nigh on invisible for most of the year.

I have to wonder how viable it would be in a very strong wind or with a boat pitching and rolling in heavy seas. I would think it would be akin to pissing into the wind. It may seem like a good idea at the time but then you are quickly reminded of the downfalls of your idea.

It's unusual, but not that impressive. Maybe on UHF, and even VHF, it might radiate a "signal", but any little discontinuity in the stream means the antenna is suddenly significantly shorter. A little gust of wind and you're off the air.

The jury's still out on this. I've read rave reviews that were obviously written by easily-impressed people; I've read others that seemed more in line with my own (perhaps cynical) thinking.

You need an antenna for a shipboard emergency? Send an ET out with a roll of wire and a tool belt (okay, with tools in it). I'd suggest a "Radioman (RM)", but the Navy, in its infinite wisdom, doesn't have "RMs" any more. Now they're "Information Specialists".

Solid metal, end to end. No liquid.

"SWR" would be pretty low on the list of things to worry about. As it should be.

Pmsl, just begs the question , who's gonna be first to try and connect rg213/u and 500w to their knob and see how far they can qso on a piss, lol.

brings a whole new definition to, your signals piss poor mate, are you using an A99 ?:LOL::LOL:

If someone tries this, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make a video! I can't even imagine what the pain would be like from an RF burn, but I'll LMAO at your foolishness...

if they used something like a RF conductive mylar sleve/tube as the antenna and the constant water pressure (like a fountain) to keep it vertical without being part of the antenna id have a lot more faith in it .
