Why do dual band antenna always seem to have more gain on the higher band?

I have noticed that dual band vhf / uhf will usually be like 0db gain on 2m and like 2.5 or 3db gain on uhf, why is that exactly ?

Hint . lets say 144 mhz and 432 mhz. 3 times the frequency 3 times the relative size

It is the same thing as stacking antennas. Since 70cm is three times the freq. as 2m then you should be able to stack almost three times as many 1/4 or 1/2 wave elements into the same length as on 2m. More stacked elements the higher the gain. As for matching, that is all built in and there is no adjustment on most dual band antennas nor is there a need for it.

On most of those dual band antennas you will find a 'lump' or two on the whip, right? That's the 'matching section', or in most cases a small coil. (It's also the reason most of those type antennas have a power limit in a lot of cases.)
