Here's an interesting one that won't be much interest to most because it lacks ssb

Reason I post is because there are claims that it is made by ranger which I'm not fully convinced. Remember the superstar name has been used by CRT England who in the past has used both ranger and qixiang to build their radios.

It's chassis is near identical to to that of the sr-447hpc2 and the at-6666 variants made by qixiang.

So is it a qixiang or has ranger really just ripped off the competition as rumors are saying?

Thoughts, comments?

I’ll be laughed at, but I like it. I spotted it the other day at Walcott Radio. I like the size, the look, the meter, and the 80 watts. Not a lot of bells and whistles, and I don’t care for SSB so it might be a good radio for me as a replacement for my 50-year-old Royce and KL203. :p

I think it looks pretty good too! Very similar to the 447hpc2 with a bigger galaxy style meter. A good AM trucker radio and I'm willing to bet money that it's a qixiang.

For $319 it is not trying to compete with the 447. The 447 can be had for $260 on the Amazon site.
You're right, it's a little steep for what it is.

Upon looking closer, the meter looks just like the one on the 447, only with a different shape. Am disappointed in the price. It’s a lot to pay for a few more watts. Unless other improvements abound.

Do we have a Qixiang/Ranger hybrid?

Think the conversion is the same as the 447?

So is this just the 447 in a different dress with a bit more power, or something different and worthwhile?

So I have a cobra 138xlr and the meter dose not work... It dose not key up and signal dose not work.... It is not stuck it the meter moves freely. now wires are resoldered on both ends...So now that do I look at. Could it be a diode or a transistor?
