Superstar SS-676

Maybe Ranger copied the Qixiang like they copied the Uniden back in the day? Ranger must have bought the license and parts.
Exactly what I thought. Back to their same scheme but we already know what the quality control looks like.

So they couldn't beat em so instead copy em!

It's funny in a sense that they bought an anytone to clone it. That's dirty!

I’ll be laughed at, but I like it. I spotted it the other day at Walcott Radio. I like the size, the look, the meter, and the 80 watts. Not a lot of bells and whistles, and I don’t care for SSB so it might be a good radio for me as a replacement for my 50-year-old Royce and KL203. :p
50 years old Royce? You’ll never find a radio today that had the quality parts as the Royce did.

The problem being that those parts, especially electrolytic caps, that were quality 50 years ago have now degraded to the point where they may not even function anymore....... and then there's wear and tear, corrosive glue, corrosion etc. etc.

The cost to make a 50 year old Royce a top performer again far exceeds the cost of just buying a new radio. And the new radio will have performance far exceeding what the Royce had, even when new.

This vid shows some inside views. Serial number sticker on the outside of the carton is what RCI puts on new radios they produce. Has the first leter "M", indicating the RCI plant in Melaka, Malaysia. Looks like a Stryker on the inside, complete with a circuit board number "EPQZ67601Z".

That, and RCI has been the importer for previous Superstar models.

Main thing is that it will fit in the overhead in new tractors. The SWR protection is worth a lot if it works like it should.

Just goes to show a manufacturer will build to whatever quality level you're willing to pay for.

I love Chinese capitalism, the manufacturers of quixing manufacturing equipment are looking for new customers most likely.
$320 is the out the door price on a 447 at a lot of shops. I like the square meter and the Rt1 is an improvement over the irf520 or the fqp 13n10 in my opinion.

Ranger didn't make it, they copied it!
Here's another video with some more show and tell on the level of design thievery!

It is what it is!
I've ran the 447hpc2 in the big truck for a while now and it's been an AM beast so far. Only time will tell how QC and dependability will be for this copy!

Would I run one in the big truck? Why not, it does look pretty cool!

Holding together so far and performing like a champ. :p Not sure why I am even looking at new radios. Must be a common affliction among members of this hobby.
