yeah, I had a lesser quality one, the kind from overseas, and it had issues as well. Found the one I have on the bay, industrial quality, and it looks cool. Not quite as old as me, but close

The base is at about 10.4V, the emitter at 9.7V and the collector at 13V. That all seems within reason...I think

I wonder if the R310 at 470 ohms is failing. That is the 7.6V source, and it's at 9V?
